Sixth Year Geography Field Trip
On the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd of October, 75 sixth year Geography students went to Ardnabannon Outdoor Education Centre, Newcastle, Co. Down on a field trip. This field trip is mandatory and complies with the compulsory action project which is part of the Leaving Certificate curriculum. This action project is worth 20% of the marks allocated at the Leaving Cert examination in Geography. The title of the action project is A study of the processes of river erosion at the river Shimna, Newcastle, Co. Down. The students are pictured undertaking the various tasks which had to be done ie measuring the right bank and the left bank of the river, analysing bed load and measuring the velocity and discharge of the river.
