The first year students recently paid a visit to Newgrange as part of their History curriculum. Both groups enjoyed a tour around this megalithic passage tomb and world heritage site located in the Boyne Valley. Newgrange is best known for the illumination of its passage and chamber by the winter solstice sun. The visit was taken in relation to their history course.

Examples of Primary Sources presented by 1st Year History students

Students from St. Barbara's and St. Brenda's classes presented examples of primary sources recently, which they brought in from home. A primary source is an original piece of evidence from the past for example; newspapers, pieces of pottery, coins, photographs, items of everyday use eg a pocket watch. They showed their sources to the class and explained a little bit about them, taking questions from their class mates.
