LCVP
The Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme was introduced in 1994 in response to the changing needs of Ireland's education system and the changing patterns taking place in work and business. Many educationalists believe the traditional Leaving Certificate is too academic.
LCVP provides a balance between the traditional Leaving Certificate and the development of skills and qualities that will be relevant to the lives of students on leaving school for further education work. Changing work environments are placing greater emphasis on the need for new employees to be well educated, confident, adaptable to possess good problem solving skills and to be familiar with information and communication problems. The LCVP aims to develop these qualities.
Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP) can be described as a Leaving Certificate with a strong vocational dimension. It provides students with the opportunity to release their potential for self directed learning, for innovation and for enterprise.
