Niamh Claims Second Spot in National Competition

On October 7th, third year student Niamh Jordan travelled to Druids Glen Golf Club in Co.Wicklow to participate in the national final of the PGA Tankard. To qualify for this event, she had to get through two preliminary rounds. The first of these events took place in Niamh's homeclub Seapoint and the second in Royal Tara Club in Navan. She showed what great ability she has by winning the ladies competitions at both qualifying events. On the day of the national final Niamh was narrowly beaten into second place but was delighted with her performance in such a big competition. She is hoping to go one better next year. Well done Niamh.

GIRLS 'N' GOLF

A group of twenty 1st and 2nd year students have participated in the Girls 'N' Golf programme over the last number of weeks. The programme, run in conjunction with Junior Golf Ireland , was aimed at girls who had never played. The programme involved coaching of the various golf skills pitch and putt and golf club induction from Seapoint PGA Professional David Carroll . The programme culminated in a gala day in May, involving the girls joining neighbouring schools for a fun pitch and putt scramble at Laytown Pitch & Putt Club. A big thank you to Seapoint Golf Club for facilitating the girls and to Fionnuala Jordan, Paula Reynolds and Tracey Walsh for their time and effort.
