American Exchange
The Sacred Heart School has had an exchange program with the Visitation Preparatory School, Georgetown, Washington D.C ( www.visi.org ) since 2004. This has been an extremely successful programme, with some life-long friends being made!
A number of Transition Year students travel to Washington in October to spend one week with their exchange partner, to attend school in the Visitation and to experience a new culture. Students are matched with an American student based on their hobbies, likes and dislikes and family background. Students live with their exchange partner and family for the week in Washington and the American student then lives with her exchange partner and family while in Ireland.
Washington Trip 2011
The Transition Year students, accompanied by our Principal Ms. Caffrey, TY Co-ordinator Ms. Lynch, and Ms. Dempsey travelled to Georgetown, Washington DC on the 15th of October for their exchange programme with Georgetown Visitation. They took part in a tour of the various monuments, including the Lincoln, Vietnam, and Korean Monuments. They were fortunate enough to enjoy a tour of The White House, and The Capital. They also attended some classes in Georgetown Visitation during school days. They spent family time with their American sisters and look forward to their return in March.
