Build a Bank
The 2008/09 Transition Year students participated in the AIB Build a Bank programme. Their theme was "The Yellow Bank Road".The Build a Bank challenge is where students who received the positions, run a bank in the school, encourage people to open accounts and promote new ways of banking such as internet banking. So far the bank has been very successful in the school with many students opening accounts and lodging money. The feedback from the customers has also been very good.

The Transition Year students 2007/08 of the Sacred Heart School also participated in the Build a Bank challenge. The name of their bank was "And the penny dropped!". In March 09 the bank members attended a regional final. However, they were unsuccessful in their attempt to reach the national finals. Only two of the fifteen schools that competed went through to the final. It was a great achievement to reach the regional final for the girls and the judges were very complimentary of their exhibition. They were presented with certificates by the bank to acknowledge their efforts.
