Leaving Certificate


The Leaving Certificate classes consist of maximum 24 students per class and are mixed ability. Students taking the Higher and Ordinary level paper are taught together.

The timetable consists of three single classes and one double class per week.

There are 22 mandatory experiments for the course and students will be examined on these in the paper. For each experiment students must be able to draw a diagram of the set up, describe all of the steps involved, be able to state the reasons for taking these steps, evaluate results and draw logical conclusions. 


The Leaving Certificate examination consists of a 3-hour examination in June. Students can sit this examination at Higher or Ordinary Level.
