The Role of the Year Head

The Year Head, on behalf of the school community, takes on the role of overseeing the welfare of a year group in line with the school's ethos and mission statement. As part of the school's Code of Behaviour, the Year Head plays a pivotal role in the disciplinary and pastoral care structures. Every year is assigned a Year Head. The Year Head works with form tutors , guidance, SEN department and the senior management team on all matters related to the year group. The Year Head takes an interest in knowing students personally and advising them throughout their time in the school. The Year Head also attends functions associated with the year, motivates students, keep records relevant to the students and liaises with parents, if the need arises. They play a central role in providing a support structure during a students time in SHS.
