Past Pupil Profiles

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our former students who generously shared their journeys since leaving Sacred Heart Secondary School. It’s inspiring to hear about all you have accomplished so far. Your stories will undoubtedly motivate our current students, especially those in 6th Year, who will gain valuable insights from your experiences.

Special thanks to past pupil Aoife Lenehan for connecting with our alumni and encouraging them to share their stories.

If any other former students would like to contribute their journey and offer advice to our students, please email info@sacredheart.ie.

I am delighted to have been selected as 1 of 30 participants in the Washington-Ireland Program (WIP)! The Washington-Ireland Program (WIP) is a leadership development programme which brings together individuals dedicated to leadership and service from all backgrounds and communities to build necessary skills to foster a peaceful and prosperous Ireland and Northern Ireland.

For 8 weeks, I will be undertaking a work placement in a high-profile US organisation based in Washington D.C. and will have the incredible opportunity to meet with and engage in discussion with global leaders. I will participate in policy debate, public discussion and community service alongside my WIP classmates. Additionally, I will spend a week in New York City on a study visit, offering invaluable experiences with organisations such as the United Nations!
WIP’s alumni include former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Claire Sugden, who was appointed Northern Ireland’s Minister for Justice at just 29 years old.

The first round of the application process involved essay style questions and leadership and service (volunteering) CVs. WIP receives over 1000 applications each year, so I was so surprised when I was chosen as 1 of 75 for interviews! The interviews were comprised of an individual and group interview, and I was shocked and overjoyed when I received my acceptance into the programme!

I am incredibly excited about these next steps in my journey and am so grateful to have had the education and tremendous support from Sacred Heart throughout my 6 years there, which has instilled in me the confidence and dedication to chase after opportunities like this!
